Good Morning America Health Styling

I was thrilled last week when I got a call from my friend Mindy, from Mindy's Meals on Heels.  She was asked to be on Good Morning America Health and asked if I would like to help her style her segment? OF COURSE! 

It was a simple set-up, and the concept was an at-home spa.  We kept it realistic and I brought in items literally from my home.  We punched it up with colored tissue paper, ribbon, and some cheery roses for a look that anyone can achieve.  It was such a good lesson about how things look on tv, and how you really have NO time on set for set-up.  Now that I have the luxury of time to look at this picture, I can see that I should have added more color to that bottom left corner to balance out the right side.  In person I swear that this side held it's own bulk, but because it was on a glass pedastool, the camera really doesn't pick it up.  Live and learn!

While perusing the New York Times recently I stumbled upon a story about one of my favorite sites, Groupon, becoming the platform for a marriage proposal! I knew what that meant, times for another installment of Weddings in the News!

Wedding Party Booth Styling

Hi!  We've missed you.  Last week was a busy week putting together the booth for the fabulous Mel Barlow & Company at the Wedding Party this past Saturday.

The overall look was bohemian with found objects {literally "found" at Mel's apartment}.  We got ambitious and decided to create a custom faux chalkboard with chalk outline frames for Mel's photography.  

Here's a secret: that is not a chalkboard and it's not even chalkboard paint.  It's black foam board.  That's it.  You're welcome.  I was really feeling plants instead of cut flowers to accent and complete this boho look, and you can see some details in the image below.

Lucky on Thanksgiving

I feel very lucky on this day to call so many wonderful people my friends.  I am lucky to have the family I was born into.  I am lucky to have so much in my life, even the challenges.  I am lucky to have you reading and a part of my life. Musing: Where has the summer gone?

I was away for most of July (explanation for lack of posting), and now it's nearly Labor Day!  Or it least it feels like it is.  July took me on a two week adventure to Italy, for a friend's wedding that was divine, and I took some time to travel as well.  I will definitely share some pics with you all.  Italy was stunning.  Then I was off immediately to LA for another wedding, and coming back to NYC has meant getting back to business.  

Looking forward to two more weddings in the next couple of weeks, and then it seems that Fall will be upon us. What will the change of seasons bring for you?

In the beginning

There was a girl in NYC who quit her job because she had a great idea.  I'm that girl and this blog is an offspring of that great idea, and so now it seems that the journey really begins.  So come along for the ride; it's bound to be an adventure.

I hope to offer not just pretty pictures and great ideas, of which there will be plenty, but a little bit of myself as well.  Isn't part of what is interesting about this world of mostly female bloggers in the wedding, event, interior design categories, is that they've taken the initiative and they're doing it?  Don't we all kind of wonder what people with unconventional work schedules are like?  What they really do?  Are they the people at the cafe during the day?  Shopping in the afternoon on a Tuesday?  The ones who you look at jealously and suspiciously and wonder what they are doing and shouldn't they be at work?

Well, I might be one of those people you see and wonder about, and I'll tell you what I do, if you're interested.  Today I have lunch with my friend Kevin at the Standard Grille.  We'll be there in jeans (he's in grad school at the moment) making people wonder, what do these people do?  Don't they have jobs?  Well, we do have things to do.  But luckily we both don't have things to do that preclude us from having lunch out and getting to be the cool kids for a little while.

More to come...as I said, this is just the beginning of the journey.  And I've got a feeling that there is a lot more to come.
